Laura, Technical Engineering Governance

"It's important to acknowledge that transformation can sometimes bring challenges."

In which area do you work at DRÄXLMAIER? What do you do in your job?
I work as a sustainability manager in the area of development. My main task is to expand the existing development processes with regard to sustainable aspects and, as part of this, to create a common understanding regarding roles, responsibilities and processes in the direction of sustainable products at DRÄXLMAIER.

To what extent does your work contribute to the sustainability goals of the DRÄXLMAIER Group?
We in development can contribute to this by including ecological aspects in the product design. One lever, for example, is the use of environmentally friendly materials, including plastic and metal recyclates and renewable raw materials.

How does it feel to be part of this transformation?
It's important to acknowledge that transformation can sometimes bring challenges. But the feeling of being part of a movement for positive change strengthens my motivation and determination. The opportunity to make a positive contribution and help shape a sustainable future feels fulfilling to me and provides a sense of purpose.

What does sustainability mean to you personally?
For me personally, sustainability is about using resources consciously and responsibly to have a positive impact on the environment, society and the economy. It's about thinking and acting for the long term so that the opportunities of future generations are not compromised. It requires a shift in the way we think, behave and make decisions.

How relevant do you think the topic of sustainability is?
I consider the topic of sustainability extremely relevant. Facing global challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity and social inequalities, sustainability is not only relevant but also urgently needed to ensure a livable future for all of us.

How does sustainability affect you outside of work?
Individual actions, even if they may seem small at first, can have a significant impact. That's why I also try to make a sustainable contribution in my private life by avoiding packaging and disposables, preferring local or seasonal food, or buying second-hand clothes, among other things. Each and every one of us can make a contribution to the sustainable use of resources and the environment.
