Conquering new frontiers
DRÄXLMAIER developed the world’s first door panel with visible natural fibers. With this natural fiber look, the company set new aesthetic standards for the automotive interior. The door panel went into series production with the fully-electrical BMW i3.

Further expansion
Another Chinese plant was added in 2010—this time in Xiaoshi. Since 2010, DRÄXLMAIER also owned a plant in Masaya, Nicaragua. In 2012, DRÄXLMAIER not only expanded its production area in Shenyang. It also set up a fully-integrated production plant in Macedonia. DRÄXLMAIER has since become one of the largest employers in the central European country.

International dual education
As DRÄXLMAIER expanded abroad, it also brought along its very own expertise. Initiated by the company, the dual education system modeled according to the German standard was launched in Brasov, Romania. It was also introduced in China in 2014 and has since been established in over ten countries.

Outstanding surface
With DecoSOUL, DRÄXLMAIER developed a material that could be precisely customized to fit into any design. The product received the reddot Design Award.

Long-term partnership
In 2016, there was a reason to celebrate: BMW had been a DRÄXLMAIER customer for 50 years. The company has been supporting the automobile manufacturer with its expertise and providing guidance for vehicle projects from the initial idea through series delivery.

International growth
DRÄXLMAIER continued to grow. In 2017, new sites were added in Matehuala (Mexico) and Livermore (USA). They were followed the next year with plant openings in Anshan (China) and Chonburi (Thailand).
60 years DRÄXLMAIER
In 2018, the company celebrated its 60th anniversary. Friedrich Dräxlmaier, partner and (at that time) CEO of the DRÄXLMAIER Group, was awarded honorary citizenship of the city of Vilsbiburg.

Start of battery production
DRÄXLMAIER has always been intuitive about future trends. The company built their first highly automated battery production site in Sachsenheim near Stuttgart. After its opening in June 2019, production of a complete high-performance 800-volt battery systems was launched.
