In which area do you work at DRÄXLMAIER? What do you do in your job?
I work in the Process & Cost Management division, where, as a sustainability expert in development, I am responsible for the electrical segment. A key part of my job is working closely with international teams. Together, we analyze anomalies in specifications, evaluate them systematically, and derive concrete measures and recommendations for action.
How is your role related to sustainability?
Sustainability is firmly integrated into my daily work. I oversee sustainability initiatives in production, business development, and foundational work in the electrical engineering field. In doing so, I collaborate closely with various departments and help develop new approaches to sustainability.
How does your work contribute to the DRÄXLMAIER Group’s sustainability goals?
I support the sustainability goals on various levels. In addition to further developing sustainable solutions, I am also involved in drafting the electrical systems section of the sustainability report. This way, we help ensure transparency regarding our measures and progress.
How does it feel to be part of this transformation?
It’s incredibly exciting to play an active role in shaping this transformation. My journey began with leading a fundamental research project, from which I’ve grown into my current role. What motivates me most is the opportunity to actively drive change and implement concrete improvements together with colleagues and through direct collaboration with OEMs. Participating in the “Green Automotive Electrical System” working group gives me the chance to gain experience beyond DRÄXLMAIER as well.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
The importance of sustainability will continue to grow. Practical implementation is key here. The goal is to develop workable solutions that make a measurable difference and function effectively in everyday life.
What does sustainability mean to you personally?
For me, sustainability means using resources in a conscious and responsible way. My interest in this topic has grown both professionally and personally. From an early age, the people around me instilled in me an awareness of the importance of using resources responsibly. When I built my timber-frame house, I used wood from my own forest and sourced most of the materials and services locally, within a radius of about 30 kilometers.
How relevant do you think the topic of sustainability is?
Ultimately, one thing is certain: We only have this one world. That makes it all the more important to make the right decisions today and to consistently pursue sustainable solutions.
How does sustainability affect you outside of work?
Sustainability also plays an important role in my personal life. In addition to generating electricity with my own solar panel system and storage unit, caring for my forest is particularly close to my heart. For me, preserving healthy forests is an important way to contribute to the responsible use of natural resources.
