Corinna Apprentice

In addition to her apprenticeship as a vehicle interior fitter at DRÄXLMAIER, Corinna is responsible for the social media channels of a sustainable start-up.

How would you describe your commitment to sustainability?

My two uncles are organic farmers in Bodenkirchen and Münchsdorf near Vilsheim and have founded a sustainable start-up. They grow healthy, organic and regional food for their products or source it from producers who disclose the origin of the products - for example, you can see the producers' information on every package, even with a photo.

I'm responsible for the startup's social media channels and post regularly on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. This is how we want to provide insights and share our knowledge about how good food is produced.

Where does your motivation for your involvement come from?

I´m very interested in nutrition and sports, and I´m a certified nutritionist and fitness trainer in addition to my apprenticeship at DRÄXLMAIER. That's why I'm passionate about sustainable and healthy food, and while working with my uncles I've learned an incredible amount about how to treat nature well in agriculture. For example, how important it is to maintain soil quality so that the nutrient content and quality of the food is right. Or that organic crop rotation and the cultivation of catch crops can improve soil quality and build up humus as a CO2 reservoir.

Do you also strive for a sustainable lifestyle in your everyday life?

Healthy eating is important to me and that's why I buy seasonally and regionally and pay attention to the quality of the food. In doing so, you support local agriculture, do something for your own health, and it's also better for nature. I have also reduced my meat consumption.

Do you have any more practical tips and tricks for more sustainability in everyday life?

Walk and ride a bike! I live in the countryside and you certainly need a car for long distances, but you can also get a lot done on foot.
