DRÄXLMAIER invests in Landau

04. July 2016 The DRÄXLMAIER Group opens up a new logistics center at the site in Landau

The DRÄXLMAIER site in Landau is growing: On Friday July 1st 2016, the Director of Human Resources of the DRÄXLMAIER Group Roland Polte and the Plant Manager Wolfgang Weissenberger officially launched the new logistics center at the site in Landau together with the mayor of Landau, Dr. Helmut Steininger.

As one of the first sites in Germany, Landau has a special significance in the plant network of the DRÄXLMAIER Group, said Roland Polte in his opening speech. He said that the new logistics center was yet another important investment in the future of the site. The mayor of Landau Dr. Helmut Steininger also expressed his satisfaction with the growth of DRÄXLMAIER. "For this project, the teamwork between the city and DRÄXLMAIER worked very well", said Steiniger. He also promised that every effort would be made to continue improving the infrastructure.

Investments in the site
According to Roland Polte, the decision in favor of Landau was made thanks to the numerous advantages of the site: With its close proximity to the highway in terms of transport connections, Landau was able to provide sufficient expansion space. Thus, the DRÄXLMAIER Group was able to invest about four million Euros last year into expanding the warehouse, into an administration building with its own gate and into expanding the outdoor area.

Planning and support for construction work was provided by the Delta Gruppe in Geisenhausen. "One of the main challenges was not interrupting ongoing operations at the plant during the construction phase", said the architect Josef Wiesmüller. The work was completed after a construction period of only nine months

Good coordination
"The logistics competence of the DRÄXLMAIER Group is one of our crucial competitive advantages ", said the Director Roland Polte. "With the new distribution warehouse, Landau will become one of the most important pillars. That is where our deliveries are coordinated to reduce transport routes as much as possible and to optimize the capacity of the trucks. That way, the logistics center in Landau is also making an important contribution to sustainability", said Polte.
