Kristina, Specialist for sustainability in purchasing

"Sustainability is the top issue, especially for future generations."

In which area do you work at DRÄXLMAIER? What do you do in your job?
I work in the Procurement Governance team as a sustainability specialist. Our task is to translate the legal requirements of the German Supply Chain Sourcing Obligations Act (LkSG) as well as our own market and customer requirements on the topic of sustainability for the purchasing organization. We successfully work in an interdisciplinary team of specialists.

To what extent does your work contribute to the sustainability goals of the DRÄXLMAIER Group?
The Sustainability Team is very well networked within the organization and works on a wide variety of projects. The most important part is establishing standards and guidelines so that sustainability also reaches the supply chain. This can be seen, for example, in our Sustainability Check (S-Check). Here, we check our supplier network for sustainability criteria and then use these to develop the appropriate strategies. Knowing the CO2e footprint of our products within the supply chain is also an important part of our work.

How does it feel to be part of this transformation?
Innovative and meaningful. As a business psychologist, I am particularly passionate about making a significant contribution to the green transformation. It is a way to support the preservation of our planet.

Where do you see your topic in the future?
As an established and practiced matter of course. In my opinion, it is crucial that the DRÄXLMAIER Group manages to set the mindset to "green" in the long term. The topics of communication and change management are of central importance and must be established within the learning organization. This can be achieved, among other things, with a sustainable education and training concept, regular exchange of experts, the establishment of a "green" management guideline, publications, and, of course, the role model function of all employees.

What does sustainability mean to you personally?
Sustainability and environmental protection are the top issues today, for us and especially for future generations. Because I am a mother, sustainability means a lot to me. It's part of my lifestyle and I try to do my part every day.

How relevant do you think the topic of sustainability is?
Very relevant. After all, there is only one earth, and we have to take good care of it. In a globalized world, it is essential to synchronize laws for a topic that affects us all so much.

How does sustainability influence you outside of work?
I encounter the topic of sustainability everywhere; in our family, for example, we buy regional organic products. In everyday life we separate waste, and in my free time I try to make all short journeys by bicycle, or if I'm traveling in Munich, by S-Bahn. I eat vegetarian and we raise our children in an environmentally conscious way. For me, passing on environmentally conscious values means sustainability at its core.
