09. November 2016 – Preparations at DRÄXLMAIER running at top speed
Whoever wants to take part in the 52nd round of Germany's most well-known youth competition in 2017 has to hurry. Young researchers only have until 30th November to register their projects. Preparations in Vilsbiburg for Jugend forscht are running at top speed. The DRÄLXMAIER Group will sponsor and host the regional competition in Bavaria in 2017 for the first time.
Participants can be young researchers aged between 15 and 21. To enter the competition under www.jugend-forscht.de, young researchers merely have to decide on their research topic. The topics can be freely selected, but have to come from one of the following seven fields: working world, biology, chemistry, geophysics and space sciences, mathematics/information technology, physics and engineering. The researchers can research, work on small details and experiment at school, at the school research center or at home until early January 2017. After that, participants have to submit a written draft of their research projects.
From February 2017 onwards, the participants will present their projects at regional competitions. The best projects will qualify for the regional competition that will take place in Vilsbiburg from the 3rd to the 5th of April. DRÄXLMAIER will cooperate with the town of Vilsbiburg and the Rote Raben, who will provide the venue. "It is important for us for the competition to take place right here in Vilsbiburg", said Dr. Tobias Nickel, who is the sponsor of Jugend forscht at DRÄXLMAIER. "We are very pleased that the town of Vilsbiburg and the Rote Raben are supporting our commitment to young researchers."
Around 100 researches will present their work to the public
In April, around 100 young researchers will be guests in Vilsbiburg. In 2016, over 2000 young researchers took part in Jugend forscht in Bavaria – which includes all the regional competitions – more than in any other federal state. Participants in the Bavarian regional competitions regularly ranked among the winners of the national competition. "Every year, Jugend forscht makes a valuable contribution to fostering talents and motivates young researchers to tackle their projects with even more commitment", said the head of the regional competition Dr. Monika Christl. "Jugend forscht is the ideal competition for young people who are eager to learn", added Dr. Tobias Nickel. "We're already eagerly awaiting this year's research projects."
The VHS in Vilsbiburg will present the projects during guided tours so that all those interested can get an idea of the young researchers.
