How does sustainability happen?

It happens by the continuous expansion of our competences – for example, in the area of lightweight construction. Today, we are able to reduce our material consumption, thanks to our expertise in this very area. We are also able to produce interior components from natural fibers, which contribute to the reduction of CO2. And we prove that sustainability and aesthetics can go hand in hand: Our visible natural fiber door panels in the BMW i3 show that in an impressive way.  

However, sustainability means more to us than future-oriented products. More importantly, it is the core of our self-perception, and we live this, as do our employees. For this reason, the adherence to our globally effective ethical principles as well as our Guideline to Environment, Energy, Occupational Health and Safety protection is tightly controlled. Trained contact persons are available worldwide for all employees.

A long-term perspective has marked our personnel policy since company was established more than 50 years ago. Management and employees are connected by the strong bond of loyalty – across more than 20 countries. We consider ourselves to have a special responsibility for each other.

As part of society, we bear social responsibility and support the regions around our sites on a long-term basis with selected projects. In all our activities, we place particular emphasis on the promotion of youth.
